Cross-Word Pit Stop

By Haug / Kaegi / Wetzel

In July 2000 Haug / Kaegi / Wetzel discovered for the stage four ladies aged over 80 and turned them into Formula-One competitors in regard to their own speed, patience and presence. With three months to go until the race, the artists and the four women jointly conduct research into racing courses and undergo memory training at the home for senior citizens. Step by step, the theatre set is adapted to the tempo. A prompter waves flags to signal the most important text sections. The string of a catapult is retracted, a home trainer adjusted, an explosion simulated. From starting signal to stairlift, from hearing aid to hairpin bend: rehearsal by rehearsal, the protocol of this process becomes the actual racing course - and a text. The play is the race is life.
