CHANGE CREATIVELY

NAME: YONIDA KAPETANI

AGE: 34

PLACE OF RESIDENCE: DOWNTOWN ATHENS

BIRTHPLACE: AGIOI SARANTA, ALBANIA

ORIGIN: ALBANIA

ON THE NIGHT OF THE PREMIERE SHE WILL WALK TO KIFISSIAS AVENUE, CROSS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STREET AND REACH THE PANORMOU METRO STATION TO THE HERODION THEATRE.

Yonida was born in Albania and moved to Greece in 1991 with her whole family for a better living.  They faced difficulties getting their residents permit.  She thought she had to give away her Albanian citizenship and that really bothered her.  At the moment she identifies herself as a Greek Albanian, especially after living in Greece for so long.  She feels lucky having a double identity.  Albania keeps her proud and Greece has offered her great moments in her life “under difficult circumstances I achieved to meet great people. Racism was never an issue.”

She finished high school in Athens, got a BA in Business Administration in the NY College and a master in professional communications.  At the moment she works in a café in Psychico after working for 7 years for Antennas’ Station Fame Studio show and teaching at the journalists’ school there. “ I quit because they underestimated my work.  I have thoughts of leaving the country to go to London-where my sister lives, or Albania.” It’s admirable to arrive in a country not speaking the language and ending up teaching in Greek in a university level. She is the vice president of the Europeans Woman Association. The tattoo on her foot says, “ The world is made for women.”

She identifies with Prometheus for his resistance and with Okeanos for his peacemaking will. Her father invented her name: Yonida, from the Ionian Sea in Albanian (Yon). Her name is similar to Io.
