Prometheus in Athens

NAME: THOMAS KABOURIS    

AGE: 20

PLACE OF RESIDENCE: ZEPHYRI

BIRTHPLACE: ATHENS  

ORIGIN: ALEXANDRIA IMATHIAS AND ROMANI

ON THE NIGHT OF THE PERFORMANCE THOMAS KABOURIS WILL DRIVE ON DEMOKRATIAS AVENUE FROM MENIDI TOWARDS THE NATIONAL ROAD.  THEN HE WILL EXIT ON KAVALAS AVENUE, GO ALL STRAIGHT UP TO REACH THE ACROPOLIS, PARK, AND WALK TO THE HERODION THEATRE. 

 

Thomas was born in Athens and grew up in a Romani community in Zephyri.  He went to primary school, continued to the polytechnic highschool, but he quit because he got married at the age of 16.  He has a daughter of two and a half years old and his wife, 21, is pregnant with their second child.  «It’s a custom to get married so young.  I payed her father in order to have her.  That’s the way we do it here.  If you steal a girl, you need to pay the father.»  Right now he lives together with the whole family, in order to get help for the baby.  Even if the couple decides to stay in a house alone, they will stay close to the family, « I feel it’s important living close to your people.»

When he was younger he used to work in a building site doing iron constructions.  At the same time he belonged to a soccer team, that left recently because of his child.  Now he works with his father in the moving business. 

He really enjoys fishing, soccer, cards, gambling and going to the coffee shop with the men of the neighborhood.  Sometimes he wonders why they speak a different language than the Greeks, a Romani dialect from the past. “ Most of us are born in Athens, even our parents are Athenians, and despite that, we still speak our own dialect”.
He admits he is very supersticious and anything he says becomes true.  « I feel I am smarter than the rest!»

He would mostly connect to Hephaestos because he saw his friend suffer and couldn’t do anything to save him. « What Prometheus did is bad and good.  He should have asked before stealing the fire.»  Thomas would expect Zeus to give Prometheus a lighter punishment.
