I was born everywhere

NAME: GIANNIS VASOS

AGE: 47

PLACE OF RESIDENCE: MELISSIA

BIRTHPLACE: HOUTHALEN, BELGIUM

ORIGIN: DESKATI, GREVENA

ON THE NIGHT OF THE PERFORMANCE HE WILL COME TO THE THEATRE BY TAKING THE SUBWAY FROM “DOUKISSIS PLAKENTIAS” TO SYNTAGMA AND THEN TO “AKROPOLIS” STATION. FROM THERE HE WILL WALK UPHILL TO THE HERODEION.

Giannis was born in Houthalen, Belgium, where his father worked as a coal miner, but only three years later the family moved back to Greece.
He grew up and finished school in Athens. In 1983 he got his degree as an electrician from the Sivitanideios Professional School in Kallithea.
Because the money he made wasn’t enough, he changed several jobs in the years to come: construction worker, employee in fast food chains (Pizza Hut, Wendy’s).
Now he’s working as a security guard at the archaeological site of the Agora in Monastiraki: “Out of respect for my ancestors and because it’s such an inspirational place.
In his free time, Giannis writes and publishes, among others, poetry and plays based on historic persons: Alexander the Great, Aristides, Kynegiros.

He is a big fan of ancient drama, his library is filled with Greek tragedies and he states Sophocles’ Antigone as his favourite play and Kreon as his favourite character.
In the Prometheus Bound play he identifies himself with Hermes, “because just like him, I defend the harmony of the world and I resist the innovations Prometheus brings”.
