I WALK AROUND A LOT LOOKING FOR BOTTLES TO COLLECT

Name: Ilie Tinca
Age: 24
District: Nordre Aker
Nationality: Romanian
I live in a tent in a tent camp around Sognsvann with many people from my village in Romania. There are many tents there, forty people live in this place.

I beg and I collect bottles in the streets of Oslo.

I belong to the gypsies, the poor, the Romanians, the beggars, the bottle gatherers, the mothers and the ones in Norway on a tourist visa but I don’t belong to the Norwegians, the rich or the ones with an address in Oslo.

We came to Oslo to make money, as there are no jobs in Romania for us.

The strongest man in the world is the one standing the most alone? People aren’t like that, they stand together. Gypsy families are very tight! I don’t have the impression that Norwegians are lonely as they always pass me in groups.

A turning point for me was when I became a mother. I got divorced and had to leave the country to provide for my child which is taken care of by my family in Romania.

For the performance I am walking from St Hanshaugen to the Nationaltheatre.
