I WALK AROUND A LOT

Name: José Antonio Aparicio Gonzalez
Age: 44
District: Gamle Oslo
Nationality: Spanish
I share a flat with my Italian flatmate, Omar.

I am currently unemployed.

I belong to the Spanish, the unemployed, the ones that don’t give up and the brave but I do not belong to the nervous or the ones sitting at home and waiting for things to fix themselves.

I live in Oslo because I think that Oslo may be better for me and eventually also for my family. Better in a way that Spain and Mallorca cannot offer me the same conditions. You have better educational systems, better social welfare, less social division. People here respect each other more. Where I come from, it is not like that.

I don’t know the play An Enemy of the People but I think I am going to read it now. The saying "the strongest man in the world is the one standing the most alone" makes me think that I am very lonely here in Oslo. And to be alone you have to be strong. But it also reminds me of my weakness; as my family, wife and children are back in Spain.

It was a major turningpoint for me when I left Spain for Norway.

I would go by tube from Tøyen all the way to Nationaltheatret.
