I SMILE WIDELY

NAME: KATERINA TSOKOU

AGE: 63

PLACE OF RESIDENCE: AIGALEO

BIRTHPLACE: AIGALEO

ORIGIN: ANTALYA, TURKEY

ON THE NIGHT OF THE PREMIERE SHE WILL TAKE THE METRO FROM “AIGALEO” STATION, WHICH IS NEXT TO HER HOUSE, CHANGE AT “SYNTAGMA” TO THE RED LINE, ALL THE WAY TO “AKROPOLIS” METRO STATION, AND FROM THEN WALK TO HERODEION.

Coming from a poor family of seven children, something she is not ashamed to say, in a house with nine persons and only two rooms, she learned from a very young age to appreciate whatever she has and being thankful for it. She always tries to help people: “Seeing a neighbor the other day, whom I knew she had no money, I offered to help her sew her children’s clothes, otherwise she would have to pay if she took them to the seamstress”. Actually, she can transform any piece of material into something nice. She even sews the seat of her husband’s bike. “I cannot write well or express myself fluently, but I am a good housewife, mother, wife and cook.”

Being very sensitive when it comes to children, she wishes something better for the children of the world. Although she does not use the Internet, she now believes that’s better because she “would get burnt” from the things she would see and learn. She suggests that if you open your house to a 10-year-old child, to bathe it and feed it, nothing will happen to you.
[79] “Be softened then”.

Katerina Tsokou  is always looking at the bright side of life and proves that belief by having a big hug and a warm smile for all the people, starting, of course, from her family. Even at hard times she smiles, thinking that she is not the first one that goes through rough times. “When you give love, you receive love”, she explains.

Though she admits that every now and then she collapses emotionally , something that started happening to her after the age of 50, she finds the strength to deal with her problems calmly. Even at the time when she discovered she had breast cancer she “became friends with the problem” and went over it, and even thought of creating an association for women with breast cancer.

She identifies herself with Prometheus because she always helps people.

NAME: MARINA VRAPI

AGE: 15

PLACE OF RESIDENCE: CENTER OF ATHENS

BIRTHPLACE: TSEM SEKTORI, ALBANIA

ORIGIN: ALBANIA

AT THE NIGHT OF THE PERFORMANCE, SHE WILL COME ON A MOTORBIKE, DRIVEN BY HER FATHER, WHO IS VERY STRICT AND PROTECTIVE. SHE WILL FOLLOW PIREOS STREET, UNDER POULOPOULOS BRIDGE, AROUND THE PERIPHERAL OF FILOPAPPOU DOWN TO DIONYSIOU AREOPAGITOU AND FROM THEN WALK TO THE THEATRE.

Marina Vrapi was born in Albania, in a village called Tsem Sektori next to a city named Lousnia. At the age of one she moved to Athens with her parents and her brother Sotiris, whom with she lives up till now in an apartment in Psyrri next to “Thision” train station.

She’s just finished the 8th grade. When she was in the 3rd grade of Primary school, people were asking her mother about their religious beliefs. Marina didn’t know what to answer, since they were neither Muslim nor Christian. When she began to attend Religion classes at school, her mother decided to baptize her an Orthodox, the dogma everyone is taught in the Greek schools. On the night of the performance, she will be carrying a picture where one can see she was much older at her christening than the usual children being baptized.

She is still very flexible, something that used to define her at a young age from other children, especially when she was taking ballet classes. Nowadays, she proudly announces that she can easily touch her head with her leg!

She identifies herself with Hephaistos and Okeanides for being more sympathetic to others. But she is very fond of Euripides’ Helen, a woman that has been through a lot in order to be with her husband.
She is fluent in Albanian and Greek, she learns English and has managed to travel three times last year to her village in Albania to visit her family and relatives.

Her father will not perform but will be back stage supporting her and making sure that she is OK.

[39] Hephaistos: A strangely potent tie is kinship, and companionship as well.
