I LIVE SELECTIVELY

NAME: MARIA ITZARI

AGE: 75

PLACE OF RESIDENCE: AGIA PARASKEVI

BIRTHPLACE: SERRES

ORIGIN: SERRES AND ISTANBUL

ON THE NIGHT OF THE PERFORMANCE SHE WILL WALK TO THE SUBWAY STATION DOUKISSIS PLAKENTIAS, GET ON THE BLUE LINE TO SYNTAGMA, THEN ON THE RED ONE TO AKROPOLI AND WALK THE REST OF THE DISTANCE TO THE HERODEION.

Because Maria remains very active in her life her three grandchildren call her "super grandma": she collects citizens' signatures to improve the public transportations in her area, sings in choirs, gathers herbs on the hills of Parnitha, goes swimming in the beaches of East Attiki: "it's like I go through a second puberty. Just recently I discovered my passion for travelling. I went to the USA, Spain, Italy, Berlin, Russia".

She was born and grew up in a small village near Serres : "although I am very proud of my origin, I followed the trend of that time, which was to leave. Leave the province, leave the tobacco fields and move to the big cities. So I got married and moved with my husband to Athens, where we had two daughters".

Today she feels worried about the situation in the centre: "I love Athens, but the centre is a shame. I wouldn't go back there".
Since she was a little kid she loved to paint and her dream was to own an art gallery.

She doesn't read ancient drama. About the Aeschylus - text she says : "Most of the characters seem to be cold, terrible, pitiful. I guess I feel closer to Prometheus, because he stands for hope and vindication".
