I TRY PASSIONATELY

NAME: MOHAMMED FATTAL

AGE: 47

PLACE OF RESIDENCE: ALIMOS

BIRTHPLACE: ALEPPO, SYRIA

ON THE NIGHT OF THE PERFORMANCE MOHAMMED FATTAL WILL PICK UP STEPHEN WANJIRU, FROM HIS NEIGHBOURHOOD IN KYPSELI, WITH HIS MOTORCYCLE. THEN THEY WILL DRIVE UP PATISION AVENUE, REACH SYNTAGMA SQUARE, AND TURN TO FILLELINON AVENUE AND PARK CLOSE TO DIONYSIOU AREOPAGITOU.  HE WILL WALK UP THE HILL TO HERODION THEATRE.

Mohammed was born in Aleppo, the second largest city of 4 million people in Syria.  He came to Greece by choice in 1987, with a tourist visa, in order to find work and improve his financial status. His friends in Greece told him nice things about the country.  He first tried to study music, but he quit and decided to work in a parking and gas station.  In 2002 he entered the Philosophy School in Athens in order to improve his Greek.  Now he owns and works at a kiosk in Thission.  “Some people visit my kiosk daily to talk, to expres sand share with me problems they have.  I feel as a psychologist, and of course I know everything that goes on in the neighbourhood.”
In 2005, after almost 20 years he achieved to get his Greek ID. “I really fought hard in order to get the Greek citizenship.  However, his friends are mostly Greek and he admits that a lot of people helped him get through hard times. He has helped a lot of immigrants from his side also, knowing what they are going through. He has fully adapted to life here, but he misses the warmth of Syrians and his city’s’ castle. He is not religious. Although he is Muslim he has visited Mount Athos to search for his inner peace.
He connects to Prometheus because he suffers but always keeps in mind the goal he has set.
